The local branch of the Samaritans is aiming to provide a listening ear 24 hours a day, but needs more volunteers.
There's an open event this evening for anyone who would like to support the organisation and give something back to the community.
Local Director Clive Dugdale (pictured) is looking for people who could work the more unsocial evening hours.
He says anyone who decides to join the Samaritans will be fully trained and supported (audio file attached):
The open evening is at St Andrew's Hall, at the St Ninian's Crossroads, and it started at 7.30 this evening.
