Former DoI minister claims constituents still want to see limits reduced
The former infrastructure minister says she’s having to apologise to her constituents after 20mph zones in the south of the Island haven’t materialised.
New signage has been introduced in areas around some of the Island’s schools in Douglas in what the Department of Infrastructure is calling a ‘refined approach’.
It follows a pause in the Island-wide scheme earlier this year after a backlash which saw Michelle Haywood replaced by Tim Crookall who immediately stopped it.
The DoI says it’s tweaked its proposals to prioritise locations that will benefit pupils, parents and school staff.
The new approach should, it says, ‘strike a balance between maintaining safe travel around schools and allowing strategic through-routes to continue operating effectively’.
