Rum auction raises over £1k for RNLI

Refuge Manx Rum was aged in the Tower of Refuge

The first-ever limited-edition bottle of Refuge Manx Rum has been auctioned off in aid of the RNLI.

Fynoderee Distillery has confirmed the sale has raised £1,325 for the life-saving charity, which is celebrating its 200th year.

The rum was created by the distillery to shine a light on the Manx origins of the organisation

Having now survived a year at sea on Conister Rock inside the Tower of Refuge, the rum is back ashore where it is being bottled, labelled and individually numbered at the distillery.

The firm is to donate 20 percent of each bottle sold to the RNLI.

In addition, ‘Bottle No.200’ will be donated to the charity for its national archive.
