Rules for mandatory facemasks in health settings lifted

Change in line with UKHSA guidelines, says Manx Care

Rules requiring members of the public to wear facemasks in healthcare settings on Island have been lifted with immediate effect.

Manx Care has confirmed the change this morning (21 September), saying the rules will also be lifted for its employees.

Wearing face coverings may still be necessary in some clinical environments.

Manx Care says clear signage will be in place to notify people of this if required.

Executive Director of Nursing and Governance, Paul Moore, says if people wish to still wear a mask in healthcare settings, that decision will be respected and supported.

The change in policy, Manx Care says, is in line with UK Health Security Agency guidelines.

It adds face coverings could be re-introduced in future should Covid-19 numbers rise again during the winter period.
