HMS Mersey has acted for Border control in Channel
The captain of a Royal Navy vessel currently in operational stand down in Douglas harbour, has told Manx Radio his company will 'follow orders' in the wake of Brexit.
Lieutenant Commander Will Edwards-Bannon of HMS Mersey wouldn't be drawn on enforcement in the Irish Sea, should a border arise from a no-deal scenario
In the event of the UK leaving the EU without a deal on the 31 October, a border within British territorial waters could exist if the Northern Irish backstop was withdrawn.
Earlier in the year, the Mersey acted for Border Patrol in engaging with organised illegal migration across the English channel.
