Manx-made timepiece goes on auction in New York
A Manx-made pocket watch has broken the record for the highest price paid at auction for a British timepiece.
Roger W. Smith's No.2 Pocket Watch was estimated to reach in excess of $1 million but ultimately fetched $4.9 million at an auction house in New York.
Before it went on sale Mr Smith described it as the 'most important watch he's made'.
In a post on social media, he said it was 'great to be there in person and savour the extraordinary moment'.
