MGP road restrictions to stay in place

Racing is set to conclude on Tuesday

Road restrictions in place throughout Manx Grand Prix will continue for the rest of the week as scheduled, the Police have said. 

Racing for MGP and Classic TT will conclude on Tuesday with a condensed race schedule brought in ahead of forecast rain later in the week. 

Despite this, the Constabulary is advising that cycling will remain prohibited on the Mountain Road until next week as planned.

Temporary speed restrictions will also remain in place around the course.

Police said: "We are asking riders and drivers to make sensible, informed decisions so you can enjoy the event and get back safely to your loved ones.

"The Island continues to function during this period, with people travelling, working and going about their daily routines, and your decisions on the road affect far more than just you."

The Roads Policing Unit will continue to patrol the Island in both marked and unmarked units with riders and drivers asked to be safe, wear the right protective clothing and make decisions that help them get home safely to their families.

Cycling is prohibited on the Mountain Road between Ramsey hairpin and the Creg-Ny-Baa until 4:30pm on Monday 31 August.

Visitors are also asked to remain especially vigilant and to remember to drive and ride on the left side of the road.
