Revised plans lodged for Bay Queen Port St Mary

Hartford Homes want to build 45 flats in two blocks

New plans have been submitted for the former Bay Queen Hotel in Port St Mary to be demolished and two apartment blocks built on the site.

Landowner Hartford Homes has revised its original design for a six-storey building with 28 flats and ground-floor restaurant, as well as six three-storey town houses.

The property developer has ditched these plans after public feedback, and is now opting to create two separate blocks containing 45 apartments, pending planning approval.

Under this application there would still be a restaurant in one of the two new buildings, as well as parking spaces, landscaping and a new sub-station.

The change in tack from Hartford Homes comes after a wide range of views were submitted by local residents set to be affected by the development.

The Bay Queen cannot be demolished without registered building consent, which has been requested by the developer.

The planning submissions are available to view online via the government's planning portal, but no documents with further information have been attached.

Hartford Homes has been contacted for comment.
