Treasury to look at income thresholds for over-75s
The treasury minister says his department needs to make sure the policy of giving over-75's free TV licences is fair.
Government will cover the cost for all in the age bracket for another year, not just those on income support, following a rule change at the BBC.
David Ashford says they'll look at whether there needs to be a cap on the benefit for those on higher incomes:
Covering the cost of this year's TV licences cost government around £750,000.
Minster Ashford says it's estimated to cost the same amount next year as well.
