Return census form or face fine, households warned

Six months on, 91 percent of forms have been returned

There's a warning from government that any household which hasn't yet returned its census form is risking a fine.

Every home is required to submit a completed form, and you have until 2 November to meet your legal obligation.

Failing to do so may result in further action under the Census Act 1929, including enforcement proceedings and potentially a financial penalty.

Census night was held on 26 April, so householders have now had almost six months to submit a return.

So far 91 per cent of forms have been completed.

The Census Office has now issued non-compliance letters to remaining homes, explaining why they must take immediate action.

Government says any outstanding cases after the November deadline will be reviewed, taking into account notices issued, the number of attempts made to contact the household and support offered.

The information collected via the census provides insight into the Isle of Man’s population and communities.

Government says the information helps inform decisions about key services, including healthcare, education, housing and transport.
