McGuinness and Cowell elected in Ramsey

Juan McGuinness and Robert Cowell have been elected as MHKs for Ramsey.

The number of votes cast was 2801; there were seven spoilt papers.

The turnout in Ramsey was 43.94 percent.

The six people who stood for election in the constituency were:

• Robert Cowell - 1395 - ELECTED
• Nigel Dunmore - 162
• Lawrie Hooper - 489
• Juan McGuinness - 1703 - ELECTED
• Janine Shimmin - 325
• Peter Whiteway - 1218

The result means former MHK Lawrie Hooper, who was seeking re-election, has lost his seat.
