Residents encouraged to collect abandoned cars

Snow and icy conditions halted many services across the Island today

Driving conditions are reported to have improved in most areas.

Adverse weather conditions with snow and ice have been seen across the Isle of Man with many services disrupted.

Residents are being encouraged to collect abandoned cars that were left as a result.

Government says this will allow 'unhindered access' for buses and emergency service vehicles, and will keep roads as clear as possible.

The Department of Infrastructure and Highway Services team will be working through the night to grit the Island's roads.

Those with vulnerable neighbours are being asked to check on them and use salt bins to grit areas surrounding their homes.

Bus services are gradually recovering, but Isle of Man Transport is unable to run a full timetable at current.

More information on available bus services can be found HERE.

Manx Care has announced operations across the health service will resume as normal, after 'critical staffing pressures' saw some appointments cancelled.

A further announcement on school openings and closures is expected tomorrow morning from 07.00.

Anyone taking to the roads is urged to exercise caution and to expect 'challenging' road conditions.
