Reservoir construction enters final stages

Manx Utilities says Jurby project remains on budget

Construction of the new Jurby Service Reservoir is expected to be completed by early next month.

Manx Utilities says the project is entering its final stages, with significant progress having been made in recent weeks.

Work got underway on the £2.9 million project last year.

When it's finished, it will hold three-quarters-of-a-million litres of clean drinking water for the north of the Island, which the MUA says will support future development and community growth, and provide the required fire-fighting water storage for the Isle of Man Fire & Rescue Service too.

The MUA says: "Recent work on site has included completion of the reservoir embankments, installation of roof coverings and drainage systems, construction of access stairs and safety handrails, and installation of monitoring equipment. 

"The first reservoir cell has now been cleaned, chlorinated and is being filled with water as part of the commissioning process."

The project has stayed on budget and no health and safety incidents have been reported during the latest phase of construction.
