Douglas Council works with DoI to transform area
Repair work to the stairs at Port Skillion in Douglas, which has left the beach out of action for months, has been completed.
Douglas Borough Council has worked with private contractors and the Department of Infrastructure after winter storms in 2021, and earlier this year, caused damage.
The beach is one of the smallest on the Island and the protective nature of it makes it popular with open water swimmers.

Douglas Councillor Andrew Bentley said the council's involvement was 'completely reactive' to the winter storms and if the steps had been left they would've become a health and safety risk.
Susan Chalmers is a member of the Bluetits swimming group and says the new steps have 'tidied everything up'.
