Police called to incident today
Members of the public are reminded not to leave dogs in vehicles unless they are adequately cooled and ventilated, after Police were called to an incident of a dog left in unsuitable conditions this afternoon (Wed 29).
Officers attended the scene to find a dog sleeping, and visibly 'not distressed in any way'.
It was therefore decided that smashing the window of the car would cause more distress to the dog than waiting for the owner to return, and officers remained there until such time when they could impart advice to the owner.
Police reiterate that they will break a window to keep a dog safe, if they have to.
