Remainder of event called off following two deaths

The remainder of this year’s Southern 100 has been cancelled.

The decision has been made by organisers after two men were killed during last night’s practice session (11 July).

A rider and marshal died following a crash on the Castletown Bypass in the area between the start line and shortly after the junction of the bypass with Arbory Road.

The Clerk of the Course says he has taken the decision to cancel the last two days of the meeting due to the ongoing investigations adding ‘this continues to be the priority of the organisation’.

A road closure in the area of the incident is expected to be in place until 4pm today.

Witnesses, and those affected by the incident, can attend the Castletown Civic Centre where police and staff from Manx Care are providing support.
