Forty-nine-year-old accused of punching and biting woman

A Ramsey woman’s appeared in court to deny biting her neighbour during an unprovoked attack.

Forty-nine-year-old Jayne Lisa Thompson of Brookhill Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.

She’s pleaded not guilty to one charge of assault and one of criminal damage, both said to have been committed on 24 July.

Prosecution advocate Roger Kane said Miss Thompson struck up a conversation with her neighbour after her dog wandered into the nearby home.

After sharing drinks and listening to music with the woman, Miss Thompson’s alleged to have turned violent – grabbing her alleged victim by the hair and dragging her to the ground.

She’s also accused of punching the woman in the head repeatedly and biting her on the left breast.

Mr Kane described the attack as savage and unprovoked.

Miss Thompson was bailed in the sum of £500, and will appear in court again at a pre-trial review hearing which takes place on 13 February.
