Riders aim to break 5.72 second record
Bikers have been flocking to the north of the Island today (31 Aug) to witness the Straightliners Ramsey Sprint.
A drag race event held over an eighth of a mile strip on Mooragh promenade, the sprint attracts non-professional riders from far and wide.
The current record for the course is held by Paul Furlong at 5.72 seconds.
Running since the 1970's, the event hosts riders with bikes from all eras - some try to break the speed record, and others try simply to finish.
Clerk of the course Trevor Duckworth says there have been many interesting characters taking part this year:
Relatives seeking clarity over potential plans to relocate dementia patients
MHK calls for action over 'atrocious' road signage
Cruise passengers affected by downed railway lines
