Ramsey man denies cocaine charge

Committed to Court of General Gaol Delivery

A man from Ramsey has been committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery over cocaine-dealing allegations.

Colin Sidney Moughtin, of Close Caarjys, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse this week.

He admitted possessing cannabis, but denied possessing cocaine with intent to supply the class A drug.

Barry Swain, prosecuting, said police executed a search warrant at Moughtin’s house at 9.40am on 18 October last year.

When they searched the property, officers discovered what prosecution advocate Barry Swain said was a significant amount of cocaine.

They also found 3.2 grammes of cannabis, worth £18.27, which Moughtin admitted was his.

Defence advocate David Reynolds said the 37-year-old was ill and used the class B drug regularly to relieve chronic pain.

Moughtin was fined £25 and ordered to pay £25 prosecution costs, and will appear again on 30 April when he’ll be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery to face the cocaine charge.
