Minister discusses deal with commissioners

A meeting tomorrow (26 April) could determine the future of Ramsey Courthouse.

Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey is due to meet some of the town's commissioners and officials and today (Tues) told Tynwald he then hopes to make a recommendation to Treasury.

It's understood the local authority has made a revised offer to buy the iconic building and ensure it is retained in public ownership.

Home Affairs chiefs have put the property and surrounding land up for sale, but the public are largely opposed to it being moved into private hands.

It has been valued by government at £400,000 and by an estate agent at £475,000.
