Ship sank in 1909 killing all passengers and crew
Ramsey Town Commissioners have organised a memorial service for the 114th anniversary of SS Ellan Vannin.
The ship sank on 3 December 1909 when approaching the Mersey, in hurricane force winds, and all passengers and crew died.
The commemoration will take place at 3.30pm at the memorial plaque on West Quay, Ramsey today (Sunday, 3 December) and will last 15 minutes.
An introduction will be read out by the commissioners, followed by the names of those who perished and prayers.
In the event of poor weather the event will take place in the Our Lady Star of the Sea and St Maughold Catholic Church on South Promenade.
