DfE consultations to lead to reforms
A raft of reforms to the Island's employment legislation will form the content of a new Bill to be introduced to the legislative branches in May.
It follows support for a broad range of changes following public consultations conducted by the Department for Enterprise last summer.
The reforms will cover areas such as family rights, zero hours contracts and whistleblowing.
Key elements of the changes to family leave include provision for the right to shared parental leave, and the right to time off work to accompany a partner to antenatal appointments.
It's also proposed to provide greater protections for whistleblowers to prevent detrimental treatment by employees on behalf of an employer.
In the case of zero hours contracts the changes would extend the right to a written statement and itemised pay statements to workers, and the regulation of contracts which provide one-sided obligations.
