Comms failure means today's racing in question

Problems with a radio system used by marshals and the emergency services meant long delays delay to racing today.

A breakdown means MGP racing around the course has been delayed until at least 2pm after a vital piece of comms kit failed leaving marshals out of touch with the Grandstand.

Crossing points staying open for foreseeable future – roads are still closed around the circuit, and a further announcement about today’s schedule will be made at 1pm.

Today’s programme includes the four-lap 350 Classic TT, a Classic Racer TT lap of honour, the four-lap Formula 1 and 2 race and a Manx Grand Prix Qualifying session at 5.45pm.

Roads are expected to reopen no later than 9pm.

Earlier this year, Tynwald voted to spend £5 million updating the 12 year old Tetra system which is used by police, fire and ambulance services as well as marshals.
