Enforcement of catch limit continues
There's been a 'slow start' to this year's queen scallop fishing season.
Since it began on Monday, an average 16 tonnes of queenies per day have been landed by 20 vessels.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says The Targets, a popular fishing area off the north west coast, has yielded a 'very poor' stock so far.
Fishers were informed last month that the legal catch limit had been lowered to 992 tonnes each for the year ahead, due to declining shellfish stocks.
