
QEII high school in Peel has been pipped at the post for the top prize in an international environmental competition.
The school had made it through to the final of the Zayed Future Energy Prize in the European schools section.
Head Sue Moore, teacher Lesley Sleight and head girl Moira Pain flew to Abu Dhabi at the weekend to attend the presentations for the competition.
QEII's eco committee had impressed the judges with its recycling and energy-saving schemes, tree planting, water-saving ideas and big 'tidy-ups'.
However, the $100,000 dollar first prize went to the other finalist, Okehampton College in Devon.
