Pupils can remove ties and wear shorts, but are asked to uphold tights rule
The headteacher at QEII High School is asking parents for support in upholding uniform standards over skirts and tights during the current warm spell.
It comes after comments from parents on social media claiming the school is insisting pupils who choose to wear a skirt also wear tights despite the higher temperatures.
In an email to parents and carers this morning, Charlotte Clarke has confirmed there is no expectation that students wear blazers or jumpers, they're able to remove their ties and undo their top button and that classes have been moved out of some of the school's hottest rooms.
All students are able to wear tailored shorts, and ice lollies will be handed out at break and lunchtime.
Mrs Clarke confirmed there have been queries regarding the policy on tights.
However, she says that following a recent communication to parents on appropriate skirt length, the policy on tights will only be reviewed in September, once knee-length skirts have been consistently worn.
She asks parents for their support in upholding these standards and for parents to work with the school to achieve this.
She adds that the school will not tolerate abusive, defamatory or inappropriate comments about staff or the school online, and is reminding parents of the importance of respectful written and verbal communication with school staff.
