Clean-up operation starting today
The Leader of Douglas Council says the purchase of the Villiers site in Douglas is "very promising."
It was confirmed this morning (Mon 22 Oct) that the site has been bought by the Tevir Group.
The group have acquired several well-known buildings around the capital in recent months, including the Castle Mona and the former Zurich headquarters on Athol Street.
This latest purchase includes Villiers House, Clarendon House, a development plot and the area known as the "town square".
A clean-up operation is said to be starting today.
Speaking on Mandate this morning, Council Leader David Christian said the group has been talking to the Council for some weeks - and have appeared keen to proceed with work to improve the site.
The company says this purchase reflects its ambition to progress significant development projects in the Isle of Man.
