
A Rushen MHK says delays to the Southern Area Plan would heap further pressure on an already strained housing market in that part of the Island.
Phil Gawne says he and fellow Rushen members Quintin Gill and Juan Watterson regularly receive calls from constituents saying they are struggling to find somewhere to live.
Local Government Minister John Shimmin has said a draft of the plan won't be ready until September, and the final version isn't expected to go before Tynwald until January 2011.
He says one reason for the delay is the need for extra public consultation to find out what people in the south of the Island want.
