Male on police bail after being arrested for arson
People are being urged to stay away from derelict buildings on the Isle of Man.
It follows a fire at ‘Africa House’ on Woodbourne Road in Douglas on Friday.
Firefighters say the blaze was more difficult to put out because the doors and windows of the property – which once belonged to a jailed millionaire – had been boarded up.
Police have confirmed a male has been arrested on suspicion of arson – he has been bailed pending further enquiries.
PC Louise Kennaugh told Manx Radio it sends out a warning to others:
Anyone who has dashcam or doorbell footage from the night of the fire is asked to contact Police Headquarters or Crimestoppers.
