DoI and local authorities in talks
The Department of Infrastructure is consulting with local authorities around the Island about the possibility of public sector housing rents going up.
In the House of Keys today, Onchan MHK Rob Callister asked if the DoI would recommend an increase next April.
In reply, Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer said while his department did not have the powers to set public sector rents, local housing providers could not set their own rents without approval from the DoI.
He said consequently it was talking to local authorities about any possible rises:
