Public Health highlights sharp rise in clinic attendances and STI tests following last year’s TT

Public Health Isle of Man is encouraging residents and visitors to practise safe sex during the TT fortnight, reminding people to "protect yourself off the track too."

The health agency says it may be an uncomfortable topic for some, but sexual health is important - warning that sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies can have lasting consequences.

Figures show that in June last year, attendances at the Island’s sexual health centre rose by up to 217 percent compared to the previous month.

The number of STI tests increased by up to 80 percent.

Public Health is urging people not to take unnecessary risks and to use protection.
