Animal's owner has now come forward
Police are asking members of the public not to speculate and apportion blame in an incident in which a child was bitten by a dog.
It happened around Ballakermeen Avenue in Douglas last Sunday and officers say investigations are progressing.
The owner of the dog has now come forward.
The child wasn't seriously injured.
Police say they would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
