Change lacked publicity, says union
A union says it welcomes the implementation of the new minimum wage structure, but has concerns about how it's been publicised.
Bands for those aged 18 to 20 and 21 to 24 have been removed, so the same rate now applies for everyone aged 18 and over.
Prospect negotiations officer, Mick Hewer, feels there hasn't been enough publicity about it, and thinks many smaller companies and employers won't have altered their payroll systems to reflect the changes.
He's also concerned low-paid workers won't be aware of the changes, and don't know who to turn to for advice.
Mr Hewer feels more could have been done to get the information out there.
