The deteriorating state of Douglas promenade is being addressed.
The last major reconstruction of the prom took place in the 1930s, and Infrastructure chiefs say while it has lasted well, without any major maintenance or refurbishment, it's now beginning to detract from the quality of the street scene.
Minister Phil Gawne says the road surface is uneven and badly cracked and gives a shabby and downtrodden first impression to visitors, in contrast to Douglas Corporation's sunken gardens.
He recognises the present, tough economic climate, but says government still needs to invest in basic infrastructure:
