A street designer from the UK has been laying out his vision for Douglas Promenade in a movie commissioned by the government.
The Department of Infrastructure’s Youtube film features Ben Hamilton-Baillie who says removing traffic lights and road markings would create a safer prom with more courteous users.
The video shows road systems in UK towns where pavements and roads appear to blend, being created from similar materials.
He claims past practices of concentrating on motorists and cars means streetscapes alienate pedestrians and damage local economies.
