The Manx goverment says it's putting more emphasis on preventing young troublemakers from committing further crimes.
The Youth Justice Unit at the Department of Social Care is responsible for rehabilitating youngsters caught up with the law.
It says 87 per cent of participants in one of its recent schemes haven't reoffended since. 
Leader of the YJU Inspector Phil Drowley says one change is that 17-year-old offenders are now held in a children's secure unit, rather than the prison at Jurby:
