Progress expected soon on access to criminal records

Moves to help prevent foreign criminals from entering the Isle of Man are being frustrated by the size of the task.

Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw told Tynwald the Isle of Man Constabulary was currently able to view criminal records in the United Kingdom and some European ones, but there was plenty of work to do before the required amount of information was available.

He said much of the work was being led by police forces in the UK, and the Island was at the mercy of progress there.
