Abort67 to appear in capital again
A UK pressure group whose visit to the Island generated controversy last month has warned residents against using violence, as protesters return this week.
Abort67 stirred up public debate last month when placards depicting images of terminated foetuses were put on display in central Douglas.
Now the group has announced it will return to the Legislative Buildings on Prospect Hill this week and next, to show what it calls 'the reality' of MHK Dr Alex Allinson's Abortion Reform Bill before it is presented to the House of Keys.
Pro-choice group Handmaids Isle of Man has responded, vowing to organise a counter-demonstration as an 'antidote'.
Abort67 has urged sensitive residents to stay away from the Tynwald buildings until next Wednesday (24 January) if they don't want to see graphic abortion images.
It's also been in talks with police, concerning threats of violence allegedly made against its supporters.
If proposed changes to the law go ahead, pro-life protests could be banned outside centres offering abortion services.
