
The head of the Island’s prison service says they will always press for prosecution if staff are assaulted.
Alison Gomme was speaking after a 32 year-old man was jailed for life for attacking a prison officer in January this year.
Steven Eric Galloway was sentenced on Friday after being charged with seven offences, including making a threat to kill or cause serious injury, assault and conspiracy to supply drugs.
Prison governor Ms Gomme said it was a serious, premeditated and unprovoked attack.
