The Managing Director of Manx Gas is defending an imminent 22% rise in gas prices in the Isle of Man.
Alan Bates says the company isn't being opportunistic and the aim is to try and recoup some of the increasing costs the company has seen in recent months.
The Office of Fair Trading says it will look into the latest price hike and investigate whether the whole amount has to be passed onto customers or whether Manx Gas could absorb more of the higher wholesale costs.
