Cregneash bus route was scrapped last year because it wasn't 'financially viable'

The infrastructure minister says her department doesn't hold precise profitability data for each bus route on the Island.

It's after criticism of plans to remove the Cregneash bus route by previous minister Tim Crookall last year because it wasn't 'financially viable'.

Bus Vannin is expected to cost £12.4 million to operate this year, while passenger revenue is projected at £5.4 million.

The £7 million deficit is covered by taxpayers.

Dr Haywood says her department is actively working to improve how the data is collected going forward.

But she admitted the information used to make the decision about the Cregneash route didn't look at the whole picture:
