It's alongside the reintroduction of face-to-face parent classes

Manx Care is reintroducing home visits to women who've just had a baby.

The healthcare provider's planning to offer initial home visits after the mum is discharged from hospital, before following up with another one when the baby is five days old.

The decision to reinstate them, along with the face-to-face Parentcraft classes, has been driven by feedback from parents on the Island.

Manx Care says successful recruitment within the maternity team and a transformation in how outpatient services are delivered have enabled the changes.

It's hoped both the home visits and Parentcraft classes are due to start from the middle of this month (October).

There will also be ongoing support for parents through postnatal hubs, which will be tailored to families' geographical locations.

Regan Baggley, Head of Midwifery at Manx Care, says: "We are proud to bring back these services in a way that reflects the voices of our community.

"Midwives understand the value of such support throughout the pregnancy journey, and we thank our local community for their engagement and patience.

"We’ve worked hard to navigate staffing complexities to ensure our service remains safe, responsive, and accessible for all women who rely on us for care and support."
