It's been confirmed that the body found by fishermen off the north of the Island last week was that of a man.
A post mortem was carried out yesterday (Tues) on the badly decomposed remains, the gender of which hadn't been identified.
DNA checks are now being made and enquiries are on-going both on the Isle of Man and with other police forces in the Irish Sea basin to try and trace the man's identity.
Missing persons lists are also being checked.
At the moment authorities say there is still nothing to suggest that the dead man came from the Isle of Man.
