Move to cut risk to postal workers

Twelve postal workers have been attacked by dogs in the Island in the last year.

The figure has prompted a warning from Isle of Man Post Office that legal action will be taken against owners who fail to keep their pets under control.

The company has warned it will not deliver to premises where the there's high risk of a staff member being bitten by a dog - meaning customers will have to collect their post instead.

Residents are being reminded that a warning notice should be displayed if a dog is in the garden.

The Post Office also says that if dogs are likely to become agitated by a visit - customers should provide another delivery address.
