Post-crash simulation 'opportunity to test' emergency response

Ronaldsway Airport closed for three-hours to carry out exercise

The Isle of Man Airport was closed to the public for three hours on Sunday (27 November) as a post-crash simulation scenario was staged.

The exercise is required to fulfil licensing requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority.

It saw a huge multi-agency response, including teams from the airport, the fire and rescue service, the ambulance service, the police, the coastguard, civil defence, and the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.

Around 50 volunteers - primarily students from King Williams College - took part, representing crew and passengers.
