Port Erin property fills with smoke after item left on hob

Fire crews from Rushen called out on Wednesday

An item left on a hob caused a Port Erin property to fill with smoke yesterday (Wednesday, 26 June).

Fire crews from Rushen Station were called out in the evening to Ballafurt Road following reports of an alarm sounding.

On arrival the crew say they found the occupants had been alerted by their smoke detector and had evacuated the property.

The building was cleared of smoke and officers stayed on the scene for around half-an-hour.

The Fire and Rescue Service says this once again highlights the importance of working smoke alarms.
