Police warn of 'more severe' domestic abuse as Euro 2024 begins

The Isle of Man Constabulary says it will maintain a visible presence around the Island as Euro 2024 begins.

The National Centre for Domestic Violence reports a link between a rise in domestic abuse and knockout football tournaments, which police describe as an 'uncomfortable truth'.

Officers warn that for those living with domestic abuse, the games can leave them feeling isolated and fearful, as abuse can become 'more severe and frequent'.

They urge anyone suffering from domestic abuse to seek help rather than wait for an emergency.
