Reassurance over future public events
Police say public safety was the driving factor behind a licensing dispute with the organisers of Castletown Festival.
Evening entertainment at the event last Saturday had to be rearranged, after 'no action was taken' to apply for a music licence.
Previously, the Carnival has been allowed to operate without one, as it was deemed of benefit to the local community.
But the Constabulary claims the event is becoming increasingly difficult to police, with incidences of drunkeness and violent behaviour regularly on display.
