
Police are appealing for thieves to return a brass compass stolen from the wreck of the Solway Harvester.
The instrument, a 12-inch Sestrel model with the maker's mark 'John Lilley and Gillie Ltd', was taken in the last five days.
The vessel is still under the care of the coroner and is still evidence in the ongoing inquest into the deaths of the seven crewmen.
Inspector Ken Kneale of the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team says whoever took it should hand it back (audio file attached):
