Police urge drivers to secure vehicles following rise in thefts

Officers say some vehicles were taken after being left unlocked with keys inside

The Isle of Man Constabulary is urging motorists to take extra care when leaving their vehicles, following a recent increase in cases of Taking Without Owner’s Consent (TWOC).

Officers say many of the vehicles involved had keys left inside, making them easy targets for opportunistic thieves.

The force is reminding the public to always lock their cars, remove keys - including keyless entry fobs - and ensure they are kept out of reach of children or others who may have access.

Police warn that TWOC incidents can lead to serious consequences and are encouraging drivers to remain vigilant to help prevent further offences.
